Our rock climbing courses are designed to help each and every client gain the knowledge

and skill required to become a safer and stronger climber in the most comfortable and

productive environment possible.


All of our courses are customized to meet each clients individual needs and goals in order


to create the best possible learning experience. Our courses listed below are outlines of

our most popular offerings. If you don't see what you are looking for or have more specific

requests, as in learning to lead traditional climbs for example, let us know and we will build

you your own personalized course!

Introduction To Rock Climbing

This course is perfect for the aspiring climber who wants to learn the basics of Rock Climbing. No experience is necessary to take this course!   

First and foremost, our priority at First Ascent is to teach our clients how to climb SAFELY! Not only will this course teach you the basics of how to rock climb, it will leave you with the knowledge necessary to make constructive and safe decisions for the extent of your rock climbing career.

This course will cover:
  • How to rock climb
  • Rock climbing equipment and its proper use
  • Basic climbing knots
  • Belaying
  • Introductory technique

All equipment is provided including harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and belay equipment.

Intermediate Climbing
Take your gym experience outdoors!

This intermediate course is a perfect extension of our Introduction to Rock Climbing course, for those with a small amount of outdoor experience,or for anyone who has learned how to climb indoors and would like to start venturing outdoors.

This course will cover:
  • A review of the basic knots and belaying
  • How to safely set up a top-rope with a variety of anchors
  • How to rappel safely
  • How to "clean" a sport route
  • Intermediate climbing techniques

We recommend some climbing experience before taking this course

All equipment is provided including harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and belay equipment.

For those with no climbing experience who would like a more in depth introduction to the sport, this class can be combined with our intro class over a 2-day period.

Introduction to Lead Climbing

The Introduction to Lead Climbing course will teach any experienced top-rope climber how to SAFELY lead climb and how to make the best decisions possible when climbing in the future. 

This course requires that you are a comfortable climbing 5.7 routes on a top-rope. 


This course will cover:
  • How to lead sport climbs safely
  • How to lead belay safely
  • The different techniques used in lead climbing
  • A review of anchors, rappelling, and how to clean a route
  • In depth look at the different risks involved and how to minimize them.

All equipment is provided including harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and belay equipment.
