A friend and I have decided that we will be entering a film into the Reel Rock Film Competition this year. For those of you who are not familiar with it, it is an annual film tour that showcases some of the best short climbing films. Every year they hold an open film competition where anyone can submit their videos with the hopes of winning cash, gear, or in our case the the pride of proving that we can win such a such a contest. I studied film in college and my friend is currently studying photography and currently owns her own small photography buisness. How can we lose right?! Well that's our thinking at least. Tonight we sat down and put some ideas to paper and what we ended up creating was essentially a chaotic and imaginative jumble of ideas. It's amazing how uncreative you learn you really are when you actually need to be. Maybe this is why I took the First Ascent path rather than film? Either way, tonight was the start of what should be an exciting and adventurous project. Wish us luck! Below is the winning video from two years ago(which I did not make, unfortunately) to give you an idea of what we are aiming to acheive here.

Until next time - John
